This explains, in plain English, what personal information Show Handy collects, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. We keep it simple on purpose.
Who we are
Show Handy is the customer-facing brand of Get a Hand ("we", "us"), a UK trades matching service operating at showhandy.com. We connect customers with vetted, time-served tradespeople across Bedfordshire and surrounding areas. For data protection purposes, Get a Hand is the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry and match the right tradesperson to the job.

| Automatically, when you visit | Basic technical and usage data: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages and links you interact with, and where you arrived from. We use this to spot new enquiries quickly and to understand and improve the site. |
How we use your information
- To answer your enquiry instantly and work out what you need.
- To match you with a suitable vetted tradesperson and pass on the details of the job.
- To review and respond to tradesperson applications.
- To contact you about your enquiry, the job, or your application.
- To keep the site secure, working and improving.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising.
Our legal bases (UK GDPR)
- To take steps at your request:when you ask us to find you a tradesperson, we use your details to do exactly that.
- Legitimate interests:running and improving our service, responding quickly to enquiries, keeping basic analytics, and protecting the site against misuse. We balance this against your privacy.
- Consent:where we rely on consent (for example optional marketing, if we ever introduce it), you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We share your information only where it's needed to deliver the service:
- The matched tradesperson:we pass on the details of your job so they can get in touch and quote.
- Service providers who run our tools on our behalf:for form delivery, hosting, analytics and the alerts that let us respond to you fast. These providers process data under contract and only on our instructions.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved transfer mechanisms) to keep your data protected.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use advertising cookies or sell tracking data. We do collect basic, privacy-respecting usage information (including your IP address and the actions you take on the page) so we can be alerted to new enquiries and improve the site. If you'd prefer we didn't, most browsers let you block this, and you can always reach us directly by email or WhatsApp instead.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and application details only as long as needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records and legal obligations, then we delete or anonymise them. Basic usage data is kept for a short period to run analytics.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your data, or to restrict or object to how we use it.
- Withdraw consent where we relied on it.
To exercise any of these, email hello@showhandy.com and we'll sort it. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. For significant changes we'll make it clear on the site.
